Batavia Man's Club Holds Second Meeting at Court House
The Batavia Business Men's club held its second meeting at the court house with strong turnout and interest in promoting the town. Officers were confirmed, dues set at 2 dollars for members and four dollars yearly, with quarterly payments in advance. A committee was named to select officers and consider armory quarters at 600 dollars per year. Next meeting is scheduled for Monday at the court house.

Trucks Delivered to Clermont County Office
State Highway Department allotted four 2 ton Quad trucks and two 8 ton Avation trucks to Clermont county. Two drivers moved the trucks from Columbus to Batavia despite ice. All trucks are new with little use and the county only bears maintenance costs. Mrs H S Moore injured her knee in a Sunday ice fall and remains at home.

A missing man notice describes Appollo De Belvediere Murphy aged 35 with dark eyes and hair, 5 feet 7 3/4 inches tall, 172 pounds, refined Irish accent, wearing blue serge suit, green felt hat and dark tan shoes. He belonged to the 83rd Company 6th Regiment USSA Marine Corps.

Clermont County Pike Estimates Move Toward State Endorsement
Pike estimates for Clermont County highways are compiled by District Supt. Laribe and will be sent to the State Highway Department for approval before bonds are sold. The Ohio Pike 124 miles would cost county 144640 while State funds total 216960. Milford & Hillsboro route would cost State 182400 and county 121600. Meanwhile a kidnapping case remains unsolved as 12-year-old Paul Hopping remains missing since November 7. Probation Officer Deal urges wide mail-out of notices and local mothers clubs to aid in information gathering with a reward offered by the father.

County Commissioners Act on Bills in Special Session
The county commissioners met January 19 in special session and approved numerous bills for bridge lumber, light and water, supplies, rent, repairs, postage, and nails. They authorized bridge repairs near Gunderley residence and Porter's run, granted undertakers a $60 burial allowance, and funded temporary improvements No 8 and No 30. The West Bethel Electric Light Association was given right of way for a three mile electric line along the Ohio pike.

Ralph Jones an ice truck man was kicked and trampled by a mule at Teal livery stable Cincinnati while helping load hogs for delivery. He was knocked unconscious and for a time believed dead before revival at Clermont Hotel. No one blamed the mule. its reputation was noted as good.
