Sixth District Republicans back Harding for President

The Six District Republicans met at the Palace hotel Cincinnati and unanimously endorsed Warren G. Harding as the Republican candidate for President. Delegates and alternates from Adams Brown Clermont Highland Pike and Scioto counties pledged support to Harding through the National convention. A telegram notified Senator Harding of the district's action.

Big Fox Drive Planned In Clermont County

Southern Clermont residents organize a major fox drive around Neville with 9 am starts from multiple locations. Participants must assemble by 8:30 am. no dogs guns or pistols allowed. Local hosts include Geo Simmerman Frank Boys and Bear Creek area delegates. The event aims for a large turnout and shared recreation in the rural community.

Tobacco Sales Opening Draws Countywide Crowd

The tobacco loose leaf warehouse opening in Clermont County drew over 1,000 attendees from surrounding areas including Kentucky. Sellers offered all grades with top bids near 97 cents per pound while some loads arrived late for Monday sale. The event showcased the facility as the state's largest loose leaf warehouse and promised a strong local market for farmers.

Batavia Girl Weds George Platis in Rantoul

Miss Clara Mabam formerly of Batavia and Elmer Mabam, now of Rantoul Illinois, married George Platis last week. The holidays saw a Red Cross seat drive with 4008 sold in Batavia Schools and 761 elsewhere, totaling 4764, a top tally for the town.

Business Men's Club Proposed at Council Chamber

A large crowd met last Monday night to form a Business Men's Club aimed at town improvements. W. C. Bishop chaired, Bert Reed spoke, and a by laws committee was formed to adopt models from other clubs. The group plans a meeting at the courthouse next Monday night to finalize enrollment and set activities.

County Basketball Tournament Planned for Batavia Armory

County superintendents met last week and planned a county basketball tournament at Batavia Armory in early March for boys and girls. Girls must play under approved rules to be eligible, and a committee led by O. H. Schopmeyer J A. Jones and Clarence Luther will arrange details.

A Friday night double header at Batavia Armory features Owensville high school teams against Batavia teams. Admission 16 cents for school children and 25 cents for others. Games begin at 7 30 pm with the Owensville fans urged to attend.

Widow of James P. Brunaugh suffers stroke in Clermont

Mrs. Brunaugh widow of the Clermont bar attorney James P. Brunaugh suffered a paralysis stroke Thursday night. Neighbors forced entry Friday morning after her failure to appear. She could converse when found. Son Harry Brunaugh of Indianapolis arrived Saturday. She lives alone in the Glancy flat over the storeroom.

Soldier Boy Dies At Fort Thomas Ky In War Service

Sergeant James Ungleheam son of Ernest Ungelheam died at Fort Thomas Kentucky last Thursday after a brief illness mainly due to shell shock and mastoid operation. He served overseas in the recent war, re enlisted last April, and was being rapidly promoted. Funeral drew fifteen Fort comrades and Frank Weaver Legion members. colors on the casket and strong community sympathy noted.

County Superintendents Meet for Countywide Tests

County superintendents gathered Thursday with all but one present to review county wide test results in spelling and arithmetic across grades three to high school. English teaching was flagged as below standard while health reviews and Jr Red Cross links to schools were discussed. A basketball tournament was organized in Batavia with a cup prize to become school property after three wins, backed by a $25 donation from Mrs. H W Ewing and other contributions expected.

Appeal for Clermont County Farm Bureau Membership
