New Richmond Kiwanis Club Gets New Leadership
The New Richmond Kiwanis Club installed officers at a Jan 13 business dinner at the Presbyterian church. Lt. Governor Byron White installed President Sumner Powers and the board. officers included Stephen Durkee secretary, Vincent Glasgens treasurer, and directors Robert Berry and others. EB Morawski of Pinkerton’s spoke on private detection with a 16 mm film. The event drew about 50 attendees.

State Rep Proposes County Garbage Dumping Bill in 103rd General Assembly
Ohio State Representative Charles W. Jackson announces weekly Clermont County updates and a proposed law to ban hauling garbage across county lines without dumping county approval. The bill would apply broadly, with penalties up to 50 dollars or 30 days imprisonment. He seeks public opinions on capital punishment, youth scooter laws, and Sunday liquor sales.

Schafer, chairman of the Clermont County ASC Committee, announced that Feb 2 1959 is the last day for Clermont County farmers to apply for loan or purchase agreements on any 1958 commodity except corn. The final loan or purchase date for corn is April 30 1959. Farmers may contact the ASC office with questions. A new bur ley allotment must be applied for before Feb 15 1959.

House Trailer Tax Hits $8811 Here
Ohio counties collected a statewide $705 987 in house trailer taxes in 1958. Clermont County alone reported $8 811.35, as overall trailer tax receipts rose sharply from 1951 though many large counties saw declines.
