German youth abducts friend and hides body in well
In Union Township near Summerside Jacob Kessler, a German resident, is linked to an assault by Joe Welling on Lloyd Riley, age 10. After striking Riley with a rock in a play dispute, Welling dropped the unconscious boy into a 20 foot well and fled. Riley survived, was treated by Dr. Ricker, and Welling confessed to Prosecutor Speidel. the case proceeds before the grand jury.
