Stonelick Dam work near finish eyed in two months
Weather permitting, concrete work on the Stonelick dam near Newtonsville should finish in about six weeks two months. Engineer Robert Patterson says pouring is about three fourths done and a sluice gate is due end February. The lake will hold 20 to 22 feet of water, covering about 220 acres once filled.

Cincinnati Men Injured After Crash Near New Richmond
Joseph Metz and Herbert Roy, both of Cincinnati, were injured when their car crashed through a bridge abutment near New Richmond. A passerby took them to St Mary Hospital where they were treated for scratches bruises and Roy for a lacerated ear. Police Chief Fred Hoh investigated.

Death of Veteran Due to Heart Attack in Batavia Area
Frank Mess 28, a seaman and Batavia Junior Woman's Club member, died of a heart attack. He previously spent the evening at a Mt. Holly cafe. services were at Moore Funeral Home Batavia with burial in Batavia Cemetery. Survived by five brothers and three sisters. Authorities reported the death occurred about six and a half hours before officials arrived. body found in a car near Batavia Roller Mills. Local officers investigated with Sheriff Clyde Dericks, County Prosecutor Ray Bradford, and Dr. Skeen.

Clermont County grand jury indicts C Earl Ridings of Loveland for embezzling $5,000 from Union Savings Building and Loan in 1944. George Buck and Gerald Buck face breaking and entering and theft charges at Loveland Gas and Electric. Mrs Simmeron, mother of three, had admitted shooting her husband after he threatened with a knife amid heavy drinking.

Last Day To Buy Dog License Declared By County Auditor
The County Auditor warns that Thursday January 20 is the final day to obtain 1949 dog licenses without penalty. Applications must be completed before closing or postmarked by January 20. About 17,000 licenses were issued last year. roughly 4,000 have applied so far. Penalty is one dollar unless the dog is under four months old or bought from a licensed kennel or outside the state. Bills of sale and spay certificates are required with applications. Spayed status must be proven unless previously furnished. Dog wardens will continue the rules.
