Two local damage suits were settled this week. Raymond Meyer received 3500 after a court-ordered retrial reduced his claim from 15000 against William Boothby for a December 22 1946 auto collision. Kerr vs Parsons over Route 14 water supply ended in out of court settlement after a third trial was called off. Attorneys Ely White Davidson for Kerr and Nichols Speidel Nichols for Parsons.

Truck Driver Earl Benton Dies From Gunshot Wound
Earl Benton 40, a Cincinnati Gas & Electric truck driver, died from a rifle shot to the head Tuesday morning. His body was found near Batavia by a New Tonsville man and a schoolteacher. Sheriff and county coroner investigated. Benton survived by his widow Florence and his parents. Funeral set for Moore Funeral Home Batavia at 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. F H Russell officiating.
