Organ Dedication at Methodist Church on January 30

The Methodist church will dedicate its new Hammond organ Sunday evening January 30 at 7 30. Mr Pat Gillick will be the organist for the occasion. The old organ has been donated to the Taylor M E church in Batavia and will be moved immediately.

Lady Passes Mrs Addie Holmes Frazier of Williamsburg

Mrs Addie Holmes Frazier widow of Charles A Frazier of Williamsburg died last Wednesday after a long illness. She leaves two daughters Mrs Henry Buseh of Lansing Michigan and Bertha at home. two sons Harry of Richmond Indiana and Stanley of Williamsburg. three grandchildren and a sister Mrs BE Rush of Batavia. A member of Presbyterian church Rebekah lodge Vesta club and D A R she was active in those groups. Funeral services were held Friday at Madam Funeral Home with burial in Williamsburg cemetery.

Toledo Woman Guest Speaker at 16th P T A Conference

Real estate tax deadline set for March 31

The county treasurer announced real estate tax bills for the first half of last year will be mailed the week of February 14 and the collection period will run until March 31. The treasurer’s windows will open by February 21, clarifying confusion over a February 20 deadline extension in the commissioners report.

Clermont County Parks Warn Of Last Day For Dog Licenses

Clermont County warns dog owners that January 20 is the final day to apply for licenses without penalty. Those unable to visit Batavia may mail applications postmarked by January 20 to avoid a $1 penalty after Thursday. Last year penalties totaled $1086.

Symphony Offers Brahms Cycle at Cincinnati Music Hall

The Cincinnati Symphony launches a Brahms Cycle under conductor Goossens at Music Hall with two concert pairs. Casadesus opens with Academic Festival Overture, Brahms Third Symphony, and Piano Concerto No.1. Heifetz headlines the second pair with Brahms Violin Concerto. Ticket prices 50 cents to 3 dollars. N F L A Stockholders Meet January 11

The Loveland National Farm Loan Association held its annual meeting in Batavia on January 11, 1938. Fred Yeomans and Roy Philhower were elected directors for three year terms, Ray W. Ferree and Henry Schubert for two year terms, and J. B. Poe for one year, initiating a staggered term system per the Farm Credit Act. President Yeomans urged members to curb delinquency, which drives up nearly half of the Federal Land Bank’s expenses.

Vaughn Named Transportation Chief for State Legion Convention

Sid J. Vaughn of Batavia becomes chairman of the transportation committee for the Ohio State Legion Convention in Cincinnati July 24 25 26 1938. He will manage rail and bus services furnish cars for guests and tours and bring railroad experience to preparations for a likely 20000 Legionnaires and families. Robert A Taft visited Bethel and Winchester to drum up support ahead of the August Republican primary with radio figure Gus Karger also in town as a congressional hopeful.

Clermont County Grand Jury Ends Session With Report

Phe Clermont County Grand Jury met Thursday in session led by prosecutor Frank A. Roberts and reported to Judge Charles G. Clarence Robbins after finishing witness examinations. Jurors included Iva Fagley Amelia Schmitt Edna Heywood and others with foreman H. J. Bolander. Willie Earl Atkins Clarence Miller and William Yeager faced rob bery charges with related neglect cases. Arraignments in Common Pleas Court Monday saw Atkins Shannon Miller plead not guilty to robbery. Clay Moore plead not guilty to assault and battery. first case set for Thursday.

President's Birthday Ball plans in Clermont County

Plans for the sixth President's Birthday Ball to be held at the Batavia Armory on January 29 are nearly complete. Miami Campus Owls will supply music, and The Drifting Pioneers will perform. A queen will be chosen by a nominating committee with about 10 candidates and one vote per attendee. Tickets are with township committeemen.
