Manila Meanderings Rekindled Sorrow and Local Notes
Sorrow fills the Gilkison family with the death of Winford Lambert at his Belfast Road home. The pair marked their 38th anniversary and his 65th birthday in December. A fire at a neighbor’s barn caused extensive damage and animal loss. Sympathy extended to Loretta Benjamin, sister of the late Happy Bergman. The Lawhorns welcomed a daughter, Renee Maria, born December 21 at General Hospital. Updated travel notes from Ralph Scott family include California and Arizona trip highlights. Local social items mention Mrs. Flora Lambert’s visit from Cincinnati and Karen Speer receiving her nurse’s cap in Hyde Park. The column closes with a Chinese proverb on spring.
