County May Primary Field Grows With Local Candidates

Former mayoral candidates Ralph Houser and Stanley Cann, both Democrats, announce reelection bids. Petitions for precinct committeemen filed by Roy C. Soard and Ethel M. Washburn. County Engineer Carl H. Rush, veteran Clermont official, took out petitions Tuesday. Filing deadline February 7 for the May primary.

Batavia Attorney Seeks Clermont County Judge Seat

Batavia attorney from Walker Bradford & Hill announced candidacy for Clermont County Common Pleas Judge. He will resign as chairman of the Republican County Central Committee after two years. He has 25 years as GOP treasurer and is a Batavia native with a wife and five children. His partners Ray Bradford and Ralph A Hill are former prosecutors and Ralph A Hill is county judge. He plans to name a campaign committee soon.

Clermont Juvenile Court Praised By Ohio Youth Commission

The Ohio Youth Commission report for 1967 shows Clermont County Juvenile Court cut commitments of delinquent youths from 11 in 1966 to 5 in 1967. Daniel W. Johnson commends Judge Charles W. Jackson and staff for improving local delinquency services and notes probation staff development aided the decrease.

Larry Carlier Announces Candidacy for County Judge

Lawrence W. Carlier former State Representative and Clermont County assistant prosecuting attorney announced his bid for County Court Judge. He plans to run for the seat vacated by Judge John O D Erhardt who will not seek re election. Carlier is with the Milford firm Douglas and Carlier and currently serves as a county court prosecutor.

Traffic and Criminal Cases Rise in 1967 Records

Clerk of Courts Mark D. Reynolds reports 1967 saw 8 456 traffic and criminal cases filed, up 3 141 from 1966, with civil cases totaling 506, down 12. County treasurer receipts reached 103 994 91 dollars, up 35 957 75 from 1966, while state treasurer took 37 413 45, up 13 033 58. December 1967 filings included 21 civil and 763 criminal and traffic cases. County receipts: 8 800 26 to county treasurer, 339 35 to sheriff, 3 366 90 to state treasurer.

Simmons candidate for Clermont County clerk of courts

Russell Simmons, a Republican and former Clermont County highway superintendent, announced his candidacy for clerk of courts. He plans to resign his state post, join private industry, and previously lost by 114 votes to Ralph A. Parker. Navy veteran and community leader, he highlights road and snow control projects and county awards.
