Batavia Receives Unordered Salt Load From Ohio Driver

The village unexpectedly received 11 000 pounds of road salt valued at 93 50. Raymond G Linton 46 of 4512 Plainville Road Cincinnati was cited by the State Highway Patrol for 11 000 pounds overweight and for having an insecure load as salt escaped. He was fined 355 and costs on overweight charge and 50 and costs 25 suspended on the insecure load.

Batavia Township Approves Zoning Change Near Airport Site

Batavia Township Trustees vote to change zoning from agricultural to industrial for the Clermont County airport area. Motion by Lou Moore seconded by Harold Bissantz and approval by Clarence Lightle follow a split with the zoning commission, which opposed the plan awaiting bids. A federal sewer grant may hinge on airport development.

Clermont Airport contracts approved as bids come in

Clermont County Commissioners awarded contracts and approved $105,000 in notes to finance Clermont Airport. General bid came in below estimate after reductions. electrical bid by High Voltage Systems, Inc. beat one other bid. Batavia Township plans to rezone 200 acres around the airport from agricultural to industrial with Clermont Industrial Parks donating land. State earmarks $100,000, with remaining financing from the county.

During the week of January 15 the Census Bureau will survey working people in the Detroit region about how long they have held their current jobs. Director Hubert A. Yerkey said the data, for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, supplements the monthly Current Population Survey.
