Guilty Plea Filed in Batavia Case for Two Ft Thomas Men
LeRoy Edwards and Arthur Rawlings of Ft Thomas Ky pleaded guilty before Judge Charles White Saturday afternoon after being captured near Batavia the previous Saturday night by Sheriff Fred Croswell and deputies. Each was fined 225 plus costs 241.80 total 483.36 paid in cash with four hundred dollar bills. The case notes the money split 225 to the state and 225 to the county, and mentions the men drove a high SA 8 LaSalle.

The annual Red Cross meeting on January 12, 1928 reviewed a productive year with a new budget. The county ranked highly for Mississippi Flood relief and aided 232 families. 26 people received hospital care. employment efforts aided men and women. Gifts of clothing and Christmas bags supported soldiers in hospitals. Membership reached 170 with $2543.30 raised. $828 sent to Washington. New officers and an executive committee were elected.

Harry Dustin aged 61, son of the late Geo Dustin, died at his Fifth street home after months of failing health. He ran a timing business in Batavia and was well regarded. Still Lingers After Card Game Shooting in Moscow
Louie Wenzel of Moscow remains near death after a Monday night shooting at a local card game. Casper Wenzel, also of Moscow, is jailed in Clermont on a charge of shooting with intent to kill. he claims a shotgun was used while the victim was shot with a revolver. Several shots were fired. Tony Cramer was involved in the disagreement, with Louie described as an innocent party. The case is under investigation with no further arte reported.
