Myers Y. Cooper of Cincinnati assumed the Ohio governorship pledging tax restraint and limited state intrusion into private business. He urged repeal of the Pence law and reform of election laws while enforcing the law and seeking only necessary legislation. He argued for economy, debt and tax reduction, and strict law enforcement to protect public funds.
Howard K Joseph announces a reorganization of his law offices with operations moving to The Joseph Building opposite the County Treasurer Hamilton and Clermont counties offices. Carl S Joseph will head the Batavia office. Chas E Dornette joins from Kelly Dornette. Jos B Bruns adds experience. The Cincinnati office relocates to The Enquirer Bldg February 1.
Attorney Joseph I. Williams of New Richmond is named assistant to Attorney General Bettman following recommendations from Hon. C. C. Kearns Representative John Hayden and other Clermont county Republicans.
Felicity native John Hayden, elected representative, shines in Columbus among the new state lawmakers. On Highways and School Committees, he gains influence and friendships with key members, earning a reputation for reliability and good conduct for Clermont and Southern Ohio.

The January Grand Jury names A F Turton Franklin Arthur Reed Ohio and many others, with Mrs Kate Jeregens and Mr Holly among jurors. The Petit Jury, including Miss Hannah Hughes and Harry Metzgar, will report Wednesday January 28.
State law restricts truck loads to five tons on pikes during specified periods. Sections 5246-6261 set the limit. Officers must enforce the rule and protect the pikes during the time in effect.

Dr Walter M Simpson discusses Tularemia with 57 cases, with lectures on cholera vaccination, poultry disease control, avian tuberculosis testing, udder diseases, and a keynote by Dr F A Zimmer on veterinary policies.

Dog license tag sales lag behind last year with five days remaining before penalties. Funds from tags cover sheep-damage costs and the remainder aids the county school fund. Get Fido licensed to avoid public embarrassment.
County Health Commissioner Dr. C. R. Colburn lifted the flu ban last Sunday midnight and left school boards to act locally. Reports show the disease declining in some areas while others still face cases and pneumonia remains the main fatal outcome.
Irvin Clemons, convicted of second degree murder in Clermont County Common Pleas Court on January 4, began serving his life sentence at the Ohio penitentiary. The case costs totaled $2000. Clemons leaves a wife and three small children who will depend on the county for support.
L F Walker of Batavia topped the Maysville Loose Leaf Tobacco Market last Friday with 72 cents per pound the season’s highest rate. The Clermont county entry ruled among a full floor of bidders and buyers, bringing home top prices.

County farm agents may be state paid under a new agricultural extension budget proposal seeking 1 060 280 total appropriations plus 125 000 yearly salaries to replace other funding. counties would cover only local extension costs.
