Commission Urges Equity in Felicity Telephone Service

Clermont County commissioners urge the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to extend area service to Felicity. In a letter to Henry Eckhart they say residents are discriminated against as Cincinnati Bell serves the rest of the county, forcing toll charges for county business and employe calls. They argue countywide service is unjust and seek equal access for all Dermont County residents.

Batavia Police Chief Reports 1971 Year in Review

Batavia police chief N C Ward presented to Mayor Jammieson and village council a 1971 annual report noting no fatal or pedestrian accidents, 68 criminal investigations, 121 motor vehicle crashes with 14 injured, and property values: losses at 35292.75 and recoveries at 35856.00. The report details 15 burglaries with 10 arrests, 4 attempted burglaries, 2 armed robberies with 2 arrests, 2 illegal drug cases with 8 arrests, 28 larcenies with 5 arrests, 8 vehicle thefts with 6 recovered, 18 vandalism cases, and nine other cases. Additional data include 651 traffic and misdemeanor arrests, 242 speeding, 164 traffic devices, 38 DUI, 443 complaints, 228 assists, 94 special details, 88 dogs taken to the pound, and 64 E B breathalyzer tests.
