Doctor Foresees Benefit and Problem From County Water System

Clermont's new health commissioner announced at a press conference series that the county hospital faced past opposition reversal and that a tri township water system could spur a western building boom while risk increasing sewage issues. He projects county population at about 80 000 by 1960 from 60 000 to 65 000 now, with 1950 census over 42 000. He will be in Columbus next week for public health business and holds a Jan 23 press conference.

Livestock Meet Set At Batavia

The annual Clermont County livestock meeting will be held at 8 p m Tuesday January 17 in the Batavia school auditorium. W W Hamilton county agricultural agent urges all live stock producers and shippers to attend. The program includes remarks by the chairman, swine feeding station results by Wilbur Bruer and Don Siebern, a talk on Why I Cooperate in the Swine Improvement Program by Siebern. Pauline Rogers will show Austrian life slides. Russ Kimber will report for the Cincinnati Live stock Producers Association. C W Hammans Ohio State live stock specialist will discuss future price prospects. Balloting for delegates will be held.

Committee Hails Grant To Settle Merger Debates

A $350000 grant to Clermont Northeastern Consolidated School District is cited by the Committee for Consolidation as proof the merger will not erode local control. Eric Carlson chairs the committee which argues the grant counters claims of consolidation evils and community favoritism. Pierce Township Civic Association meets Jan 16 at Locust Corner Township Hall. 1956 dues are due.

Bandit Robs Alamar Inn During Saturday Night Break-in

A lone bandit robbed the Alamar Inn at Tabasco Saturday night and forced Alex Balint his wife Margaret and their daughter into another room while the thief looted cigarettes jewelry and $66. Sheriff Clyde Dericks and nearby village police set up a roadblock but the suspect escaped.

Charles Grimes and Earl Stewart organize Hamlet Motors Inc in Clinton County as the area’s Lincoln Mercury dealer. The firm seeks a charter to issue 600 no par shares. Planned improvements include a larger used car lot opposite the agency and Gene’s Friendly Service Mobil station next door. Suspects On Jury's List Bound Over In Robbery Case

Tony Pedero and Jerry J. Tretola bound over to Clermont County grand jury on $15 000 bond after arraignment by Batavia Mayor J F Paschal. Dr F M Oxley of Batavia denies rumors he resigned as Clermont County health commissioner. Board of Health met Dec 28 and his term expired Dec 31 with no notice of non reelection. Dr Charles Kramer to succeed him. Oxley notes pressures to leave for a Cincinnati private practice. The district also received a $350000 state emergency grant for a new high school serving Owensville Newtonsville Perintown and consolidation of Marathon Wayne No 8 districts.

Three Republicans, Zenas Anstaett of Batavia Roy C Thompson of New Richmond and Fred Croswell near Felicity, filed for county commissioner and General Assembly seats with Croswell seeking a second term. Anstaett, an implement dealer and former GOP official, was appointed to fill Ruffner term and has farmed taught and held community roles. The Batavia Businessmen's Association voted to urge the Council adopt a rule to regulate going out of business sales and similar promotions following Courier advertising regulations by the Cincinnati Newspaper Publishers Association.
