Gov Rhodes proposes 265 million bond issue package
The plan lists 100 million for Water Pollution Control to leverage 400 million in pollution fights and 25 percent state funding with 50 percent federal grants. Mental Health bond 35 million targets a 90 million program with 55 million matching funds for centers. Additional 40 million for Parks and Recreation and 40 million for State Office Buildings are included with 5 to 10 million items for airports and education facilities.

County Bridges Undergo Special Safety Checkups
The Clermont County annual bridge inspection is complete. Four spans in the county will receive focused checks by Middletown Division 8 bridge engineer, including two on SR 131 near Sugar Camp Road and SR 727, plus SR 756 at Sargent Road and SR 774 west of Lea Root Road. Three days were spent inspecting 31 bridges. defects were found on all but are mostly minor and fixable.

Batavia Youth Wins Citation For Heroism
Spec. Paul A. Mitchell, son of Mr and Mrs Edwin Mitchell, Route 3 Batavia, received the Army Commendation Medal at Camp Blackhorse Vietnam for action on Sept 24. He aided in repairing an armored cavalry vehicle under heavy fire near Tam Ky, enabling his platoon to complete its mission. Mitchell serves as a driver in Troop F of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.
