In a regular session the Clermont County board approved the 1951 county appropriations totaling $897,978.00, with General Funds at $291,675.33, higher than 1950. Salaries dominate the budget at about $137,365, while relief figures are adjusted by last year’s three month reporting. Deputy Auditor notes true relief for 1950 should read $810,996.33 due to incomplete last year data.

Passengers Escape as Bus Skids Near Anelia
A Greynouna bus carrying 42 men veered off Route 222 125 near Anelia two miles east of the town. It hung over a ten foot embankment but did not fall into the creek. Injured were Marine Pfc James Handley and driver Ross Staggs. Patrol notes five hour delay before a replacement bus arrived.

Commissioners Announce County Appointments
The county commissioners announced several hires after their Tuesday session. Helen Cole is switchboard operator and clerk of the board assistant. Allen Steward becomes dog warden with a $500 bond. Ben Gresham is deputy dog warden and must supply his own transport and equipment, with per mile expense allowances. Leslie Kennedy and Cecil Heffner are courthouse janitors. Arthur Meinken is custodian of the courthouse and annex and overseer of janitors.

Milford to test parking meters on Main streets
The Milford council held a first reading of a nine month trial for meters on Main and Water streets, Mill Street, Garfield Avenue, Elm and Locust streets with a one cent for 12 minutes rate. Freddie Brinson eight and Gerald Brinson five accidentally ate eight rat poison capsules found on a kitchen cabinet. The brothers were treated by Verne Daye and Chief Dexter at home and then taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, where doctors reported their condition as fair.

Ministers Protest Beer Statement in Clermont Sun
A group of Baptist ministers visited The Clermont Sun office to protest a beer advertisement that claimed beer was “Served at Church Social Functions.” They stated no beer was ever served at their functions.
