Rolland L. Scales known as Pop works beside County Engineer Carl Rush as assistant tax map draftsman. Since 1937 he helped modernize Clermont County real estate maps, drawing on the 1891 Lake and Gordon Atlas. He guides revisions as property turnover grows, while maintaining county map books for land boundaries. He also serves as an ordained Baptist minister and Republican club secretary. He has lived in the county since 1920 with wife Hannah. children Gertrude Rodan and Esther Scales reside in Smyrna Delaware and St. Petersburg Florida respectively.

Juveniles apprehended for series of local thefts
Four Batavia youths aged 12 to 15 were captured after a motorist tip and jailed on robbery charges. They confessed to stealing 21 flashlights and three pairs of gloves from cars at Batavia School and stealing $29 from the Prosecutor Bradford office during multiple break-ins over recent weeks. They are to be arraigned next week in Clermont Juvenile Court.

Three Injured In Bethel Area Head-On Crash
Ice on Hygiene Road near Bethel caused a head-on collision last Thursday night injuring three people. The injured are Mr. and Mrs. Irvine W. Zoellner and Robert D. Murphy of Bethel Route 3 plus Patrolman J A Kirkendall. Dr A A Gruber treated victims at the scene. the Zoellners were taken to a Cincinnati hospital.

News from the War Department states two Clermont County brothers Norman and Hubert Moore were evacuated from Korea. Norman, a first class private, was seriously wounded and treated in Hawaii before arriving at Great Lakes Hospital. Hubert, enlisted in 1948, is recovering from frozen feet in Otsu Japan.

Cozaddale Soldier Promoted to Sergeant in Philippines
Former corporal William H. Scott of Cozaddale Route 1 has been promoted to sergeant at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. He will serve as an Official Air Force Photographer for the Public Information Office at Headquarters Philippine Air Force and Thirteenth Air Force. Scott joined in 1948 and completed photography school at Lowry AFB before arriving in November 1949.
