Ohio Bureau of Employment Services offices in Batavia will be closed on Monday January 15 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Administrator Albert G. Giles announced the closure and urged continued services via other channels.
Clermont County Treasurer Albert E. Hines reminds taxpayers that tax statements will be mailed about 30 days before the February 14, 1979 due date. Call the treasurer at 732-7254 for questions or non receipt. call the auditor at 732-7263 for values or tax amounts. Mail must be postmarked by February 14 to avoid a 10 percent late penalty. if mailing on Feb 13 or 14, ask the postmaster to date stamp in your presence.
Clermont County Sheriff Van Camp will address the Clermont County Republican Club at the C G and E Building Social Room in Batavia on Thursday evening. The talk focuses on Clermont County jail issues. The event is free and open to the public with refreshments provided.

Ford Motor Co Construction at the Afton plant began in 1970 and the facility now covers 340 000 square feet with about 1000 employees.
John J. Kelly director of the Council on Alcoholism of Clermont County proposes a county DWI facility as an alternative to short term jail for alcohol related offenses. The plan would house three days of supervision education and rehabilitation with outpatient follow up and uses self funding similar programs in other counties. County officials would need to resolve legal issues and secure judge referrals before moving forward.
