Trustees oppose crash tax abatement at busy highway site
Trustees object to a crash tax abatement plan approved 2 to 1 by commissioners. Jerome erry taxes levied for 15 years on 370 acres abated. Romohr criticized the crowded chamber as the measure passed, calling it crash legislation. Union Township establishes another tax district
Union Township voters approved a new tax district by a 2 to 1 vote at the county commission meeting. The action followed tax abatement for the Eastgate Mall area. Commissioner Jerome Wiesnhahn opposed the tax district, as he did for Eastgate Mall, while Harold Bissants and Timothy Hogan supported it. The undeveloped land is zoned for business and lies south of SR 32 near Eastgate South property, planned for a ping plaza.

County objects to court's jail requirements
Clermont County files objections to the Dec. 18 findings on John Van Camp and the county commissioners claiming that the jail's conditions do not amount to cruel and unusual punishment. The county cites that several Aug recommendations are already followed and others impose too tight deadlines. Judge Carl Rubin will review the objections before ruling in the case brought by former inmates.
