Fox Drive Brings Local Citizens to Union Township Hunt
A fox drive in Union Township last Saturday drew strong local and surrounding country attendance. Captains Baumann, Weiderhold, Paul, Jin ning, Aichholz, Ragland, and O. Ragland led drives along East Fork of the Little Hami and routes toward Mt. Carmel, Glen Bate, and Tealtown. Three foxes were sighted but not captured. New Income Tax Rules In Effect In County
Deputy Collector W. H. Hunter travels to Batavia and other towns to assist and issue blanks for 1917 income tax returns. Unmarried residents with net income at least 1000 must file by March 1 1918. married couples need 2000 or more. Taxable income includes salaries commissions rents business profits and interest but farm produce value is taxable only when cash is received. Deductions cover business expenses including farm labor seed fertilizer and marketing costs. personal living expenses and dwelling improvements are not deductible.
