Four million pounds of redried burley tobacco from the Burley Tobacco Growers Cooperative sold to Larus & Brother Co of Richmond and American Tobacco Co through its leaf department in Louisville. West Batavia resident Willam Ort Robinson lost his well kept shepherd dog to poisoning last week. The following night thieves took fifty barred rock hens from his henhouse while the owner slept and the dog was absent. A truck is suspected to have carried the birds to market for New Year dinners. No clues have been found. Nearby Tony Lung reportedly had fat hens stolen near Summit schoolhouse for the New Year market.

Russel Lindsey aged is dead after being fatally burned at home when his father Harold Lindsey tried to start a stove fire using coal oil on live embers. Harold Lindsey is in serious condition from the burns. The note warns oil should be kept in open vessels and used cautiously away from live embers to prevent gas explosions. The father is expected to recover.
