Clermont County cafeteria workshop draws wide attendance

The annual Clermont County workshop for cafeteria personnel at Clermont Northeastern High School was led by county sanitarian S Ralph Frazier and assistant William Morris. Attendees included staff from Northeastern Felicity Goshen Marathon Newtonsville Williamsburg West Clermont and Milford South with officials Maurice Lenz and L G House also present. Guest speakers from Dayton and the Ohio Association of Real Estate Boards will address the Clermont Warren County Realtors meeting January 4 at Homestead Inn Milford.

Building Permits At Lowest Ebb This Century

County building inspector C. C. Mattox reports 513 new home permits issued in 1961, the lowest since 1955. Union township led with 162 permits, followed by Miami with 118 and Pierce with 49. Goshen 41, Stonelick 27, Batavia 21.

West Clermont school board organizes and awards high school bids

Amelia Ohio West Clermont board elects Campbell president and Wiseman vice president. New high school on Glen Este Williamsville Rd receives general contract to Dugan and Meyers of Cincinnati for 902 250. Other bids awarded for library equipment and kitchen gear. plumbing and electrical work bids exceed estimates and are revised. Elementary school plans drawn in Columbus with state approval expected next week.

Examiner to Aid With Tax Forms in Batavia and Court Annex

Charles R. Games of Cincinnati, an examiner with the Ohio Department of Taxation, division of sales excise and highway use taxes, will assist counties in January. He will be in the Clerk of Courts office Batavia on January 8 15 and 22 morning hours and in the courthouse annex conference room all day January 25 26 and 29.

New School Board Members Installed

At the Northeastern school board reorganiza tion meeting on January 1 Howard Watkins was reelected president and William Bishop was chosen as vice president. Alley R Tussey and John W Smith Sr. took the oath of office. Winfield Edman is the fifth member. Rosemary Lehrer was reappointed clerk for two years. Frank Brown and Albert Sexton received service certificates. Regular meetings set for the second Monday of each month at 7 30.

Clermont County Plans 19 Percent Budget Cut

County commissioners Tuesday approved a 19 percent overall reduction in the 1962 budget cutting 201000 from requests of 1117000. Expenditures 60146 will be paid from a deficiency appropriation as departments face mandatory fixed costs. Zenas Anstaett elected chairman. 18 staff rehired with $10 monthly raises to offset prior salary cuts.

Vacant McKay Farm House Destroyed by Fire

AMELA The vacant house on the McKay farm on West Judd Rd off Amelia Olive Branch Rd burned at 6 20 pm Tuesday night. BMOP firemen reported total loss and could not determine origin. Fire equipment could not reach the blaze near the Fred Hamman residence on Amelia Olive Branch Rd West Judd Rd as a township road now impassable. A barn on the abandoned farm was not damaged.

Family’s 10th Child Wins Courier-Mer First Baby Contest

Nancy Holly Sibert, born Jan 1 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Williamsville, weighs seven pounds with blue eyes and light brown hair. She is the tenth child of Leo and Emma Sibert, and the first baby winner in the 15th annual contest. Donald Sibert, 15, acted as “mother” during confinement. father works as an electrician in Cincinnati. A lengthy list of merchants and gifts accompanies the prize.

Regulation Sets Trucking Rules for Garbage Haulage
