Two Suspects Held After Clough Pike Murder Case

Two suspects are in custody connected to the Clough Pike murder of Jacob Fishback 71 a farmer recluse whose body was found in a shack. Officers recovered $3 448 50 in cash and later $140 more. a lamp may yield fingerprints linking the suspect. George Fishback Jr and the Beechwood Road man are heirs to the estate.

Farm Home Burns Near Mt Holly

The home of H. C. Shamp, occupied by Edger Hauck near Mt Holly, burned Friday and was a total loss valued at 2250. It was partly insured with unknown origin of fire. Hauck was alone at the time and a dog perished in the cellar. The house was frame.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary S. Crawford 60 of Yankeetown who died Sunday will be held Wednesday at 8 00 P M at Kennedy Funeral Home. She is survived by husband Lawrence Crawford and several children.

Jerome Buschmann Dies At Bethel

Major Sergeant Jerome Buschmann 55 died at 6 15 Sunday of heart leakage and asthma. Funeral services were Tuesday at Kennedy Funeral Home with Masonic rites. Born in 1884 in St Charles Missouri he served 30 years in the Army including time in the Philippines 1908 1910 and the Mexican frontier. He earned seven citations for bravery and the Distinguished Service Cross for an action at Soissons. He retired in 1935 and moved to Bethel with his wife Blanche Patton surviving along with a sister in Oklahoma. Interment will be in Bethel cemetery.

Longtime Batavian Resident Max Moore Dies at 68

Max Moore aged 68 a lifelong Batavian resident died at home after a long illness. He leaves a widow and two sisters Mrs Grace Kain of the city and Mrs Carrie Scott. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 30 pm at the Wm Moore Funeral Home with burial in Union Cemetery. He served as village clerk when he died.

In Amelia gym last Friday Amelia girls win 18 15 after a tight 11 10 halftime. The boys pull ahead late to post a 29 20 victory as Moscow briefly led during the final period. Amelia schedules Goshen visit on Saturday January 6.

The School of Instruction for the 22nd District Eastern Star meets in Milford Tuesday January 10 with a 10 o'clock start. State Prize Won By Mrs. Musgrove in Garden Club Contest

William Matthews Found Dead in St Louis Hotel Room

William Matthews aged 58 of near Batavia was found dead in a St Louis hotel room last Saturday around noon. A box of pills and a letter to Mrs Ella Matthews Batavia Route 2 request forgiveness for all that I have done were found beside him, according to informed sources.

Amelia Woman Bitten by Dog In Ferocious Attack

Mrs. Emma Judd a 72 year old Amelia resident was severely mauled by an Irish terrier as she prepared to leave her home. W A Williams and a bus driver restrained the animal while Everett Wilson shot the dog nine times. Dr Leeds rushed Judd to Bethesda Hospital where she remained semi conscious with grave lacerations and a slim chance of recovery.
