The home of H. C. Shamp, occupied by Edger Hauck near Mt Holly, burned Friday and was a total loss valued at 2250. It was partly insured with unknown origin of fire. Hauck was alone at the time and a dog perished in the cellar. The house was frame.

Jerome Buschmann Dies At Bethel
Major Sergeant Jerome Buschmann 55 died at 6 15 Sunday of heart leakage and asthma. Funeral services were Tuesday at Kennedy Funeral Home with Masonic rites. Born in 1884 in St Charles Missouri he served 30 years in the Army including time in the Philippines 1908 1910 and the Mexican frontier. He earned seven citations for bravery and the Distinguished Service Cross for an action at Soissons. He retired in 1935 and moved to Bethel with his wife Blanche Patton surviving along with a sister in Oklahoma. Interment will be in Bethel cemetery.

Max Moore aged 68 a lifelong Batavian resident died at home after a long illness. He leaves a widow and two sisters Mrs Grace Kain of the city and Mrs Carrie Scott. Amelia Woman Bitten by Dog In Ferocious Attack
Mrs. Emma Judd a 72 year old Amelia resident was severely mauled by an Irish terrier as she prepared to leave her home. W A Williams and a bus driver restrained the animal while Everett Wilson shot the dog nine times.
