Dr Rolla L Thomas died at 1231 East McMillan Street Wednesday night. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 30 p m in Walnut Hills Avondale Methodist Church. Burial was in Harrison Ohio. He was dean of the Eclectic Medical College for twenty six years and practiced at Peebles Corner for fifty three years. father of Mrs C R Colburn of Batavia whose family attended.

County Commissioners Hire Janitor and Dog Warden
At a Monday meeting the board considered public building janitor applications and reemployed John Thomas at 80 dollars monthly, a five dollar cut. Six applicants vied for dog warden. Ora Ferree continues in post at 1020 dollars yearly net. Mack Stafford of Pierce township was hired at 85 dollars monthly with board dissatisfaction termination option.

Mole Drainage Tests in Clermont County Soils
A Clermont County farm trial last year tested mole drainage using a four inch plug pulled by a tractor to depths of 14 to 20 inches on flat and rolling soils. In spring 1932 the mole channels filled with fine material and by mid summer showed no traces, suggesting the method is unsatisfactory for Clermont soils due to their fine, washes away easily. The process requires high power and is costly with little proven benefit.

County Health Staff Voted Out As Budget Cuts Hit Nurse
The county board reduced the full time health nurse position from 2100 to 1500 and no appropriation exists, leaving the county without a nurse. Health Commissioner Dr C R Colburn is cut from 2100 to 1200 part time with an approved allocation. He accepted the reduction and will handle contagious disease records and related duties.
Revenue stamps on deeds reveal little revenue here
In the county records, deeds show low denomination revenue stamps or none at all. Many deeds carry stamps of 60 cents up, each 60 cent stamp signifying $500 in valuation, allowing land values to be inferred. The practice yields little revenue locally.
