The notice invites families to submit details for the county’s first baby of 1979. Deadline is noon Friday for the Courier at the listed desk. Grandparents’ names may be included. a letter is requested for possible inclusion.

Watch Night Service set for Sunday the 31st at 8 p m in the Mt Carmel church auditorium. Guests include Lois Jane Neal of Williamsburg Kentucky and the Woodruff Family.
Clermont County Genealogy Society opens the 1979 season with a meeting at the Main Branch Public Library Batavia Friday January 5. Reference access begins at 7 p.m. and the session starts at 8 p.m. Officers for 1979 will be installed and committee reports heard. Mr Leonard L Harding Jr of Milford will attend.
The Courier office closes Monday January 1 for New Year’s Day. News deadline for January 3 issue is noon Friday December 29. Advertising and classifieds deadline is Tuesday noon January 2.
Officials seek funds for a new jail with a total cost under $500,000 already spent on a third floor. The discussion notes the remaining shortfall and outlines potential funding steps to complete the project.
The Clermont Northeastern Board faces scrutiny over its voting method on proposals. While a 5-0 renewal vote for Hegele’s contract appeared unanimous, board member Paul Stockman gave no response. The Courier notes neighboring districts poll each member separately. Cont’d on page 4.
Royal Oaks announces the club will be run in 1979 by Jack Posten and John F. Glaser Jr of the Oak Tree Group. The announcement was made Monday at 2 p.m and accepted. By early January details on membership may be available.
Ralph Houser is honored as a 1979 Pacesetter for Clermont County. the only county-wide award recognizing individual contributions. A Chamber president lauds his efforts in aiding human needs of fellow Clermont Countians. Houser previously served as Washington Township Trustee and was a County Commissioner. Cont'd on page 7.
The county reports a year in review noting activity by the gas company in Batavia and zoning changes in 12 areas. Severe winter with temperatures near zero and wind gusts reaching 49 mph drove snow into deep drifts across the region.
