The Ohio Board of Health warns Clermont County residents about scarlet fever. It describes contagion, disinfection needs, isolation of patients for ten days after desquamation, and family precautions to prevent spread among children and visitors.

A Christmas Eve scene in the tin department shows Tom Ferguson honored by friendly staff. The room glowed with decorations and a tree bearing Old Santy gifts, candy, nuts, oranges, grapes, and a K of P charm.
In Batavia last week the Batavia common pleas heard cases of Dara versus John Jordan seeking a divorce with no appearance by the defendant. Cora versus John Dunham granted after willful absence. and Jennie E versus W S Davis seeking alimony with cross petition for divorce. Trustee J R Woodlief was appointed to sell the Davis estate to pay debts and provide Mrs Davis $700 alimony and half of net receipts.
Dayton high school writer William S Belt, son of Maud Belt of Lindale Ohio, authored a Christmas story for Dayton Daily News dated December 24. The tale, Sturdy Heart and Willing Hand or a Timely Reward that Saved Life, showcases strong character drawing and storytelling promise. Clermont friends commend the young author’s style and potential for future prominence.
J. M. Jackson and wife of Oklahoma City Oklahoma are parents of 18 children born in three years. Their 14th child, a boy, is now 14. Five years ago the family growth surged with twins age, then twins, then triplets, then another year triplets, and a year later five children on one day. The last five survive and thrive. no Ohioan has surpassed this record.
County commissioners place Batavia township stone crusher on Clermont Brick Company ground to crush stone for paving the pike from the bridge to the railroad. Crushed stone 14 feet wide and graded 4 inches thick edges, powered by county road roller. Several teams and workers to haul, lay, read and grade under V Thomas Glancy supervision.
J C Dale argues the jury system is costly slow and often unjust urging that courts decide cases or employ multiple judges. He contends juries are swayed by prejudice and that experienced judges can better assess law evidence and truthfulness of witnesses. He suggests letting farmers or multiple judges handle heavy work.
David S. Tarbell owner of the Norwood Enterprise announces in the December 28 issue that he adds the entire Pleasant Ridge Herald subscriber list after the latter ceased operations. He will fulfill all unexpired subscriptions, expanding coverage north of Norwood with a paper he calls up-to-date and well managed.
In F M Allen vs T T Smith the Fayette county Common Pleas jury disagreed and was discharged after Allen sought $20000 damages claiming his horse fled when Smith’s auto passed. Smith of Leesburg was driving along the road when the horse ran loose. the case notes a highway travel law and courtesy of yielding the pass.
A notice argues that township trustees are not required to provide medical aid or supplies to indigent residents within village limits. It notes most indigent poor live in towns, implying councils should bear the cost, reducing trustee expenses.
Farmers in Pickaway county report mass hog deaths with veterinarians finding typhoid fever signs in 20 examined carcasses. They dispute cholera and note healthy pens beside dying ones, with one hog dying after three days of relentless walking. Ohio State Journal cites ongoing cases and uncertainty.
A Covington Y M C A versus Batavia basketball game ended in a forfeit with Covington leading 2 0 after a dispute over an umpire decision. The score was tied 18 18 at stoppage with Batavia ahead 16 14 at halftime. Batavia players and crowd caused the forfeit leading to calls for better refereeing and a firmer rule from management. Two 1911 marriages recorded near Moscow and New Richmond. William P. Myers weds Pauline Reither at Batavia MBE parsonage with Rev Burdsall. Henry A. Frey weds Laura May Gravitt at Batavia M E parsonage with Rev Burdsall officiating. Witnesses were Judge Walker and Mrs Spencer. Couples later traveled to their homes and celebrated with a feast.
Last Thursday December 28 Brown County held its second local option vote on liquor, yielding a dry victory by 1250 votes, 600 more than the prior election. The campaign featured heated advocacy from dry and wet factions, with newspapers and public meetings warily canvassing support. The result likely influences neighboring counties considering petitions for their own elections.

Last Tuesday Cincinnati papers announced Judge W. W. Prather named assistant prosecutor of Hamilton county under Prosecutor Pogue. A former resident and former probate judge here, Prather is well known and highly regarded by locals.
Charles Sechrist convicted of second degree murder in Clermont County for killing his father in law William Beeler last March and was sentenced to life in the Ohio penitentiary by Judge Davis. He was transported Friday morning by Sheriff Teal amid concerns for his health and doubts about long confinement.
Miss Clara Chain, renowned monologist, performs at the town hall on Tuesday evening January 16 to raise funds for the library. Proceeds benefit the library while offering patrons entertainment and a chance to support a worthy cause.

A fine horse belonging to a stock company on Deerfield Road died after a short illness, causing a heavy loss to the company. The animal had been kept by George Gregg on the stock farm.
