Old Wood Street Church Armory To Be Razed For Nichols Home
On February 15 the old stone church at Wood street will cease being an armory for the N G and be razed to make room for a residence by Allen B. Nichols. Stones from walls will form the new foundation and cellar, with surplus lime and stone used for fill along the bank and yard expansion. Life Long County Resident Passes After Tuberculosis
A longtime East Batavia resident dies at home after a prolonged illness with tuberculosis. A respected member of the local colored community, he lived here many years, buried his entire family, and was active in horse shows. He belonged to the colored Masonic lodge which oversaw his funeral Sunday. He was well known to county horsemen as a devoted lover of horses and a versatile helper in show rings.

State funds pass to German-American Bank in inactive deposit
Last week the German-American Bank received 15000 dollars of State money earning 8.35 dollars per thousand in interest. The funds are described as inactive and may stay in the bank for two years or more. They are subject to call at any time, likely in part.
Wets Win Rose Law Election In Licking County
In a Rose law election last Saturday Licking county favored wets by about 1500 votes. Newark voted dry previously and three years ago. The wets’ win is blamed on non enforcement of the law. Rural precincts showed small pluralities. Of 22 dry counties, 15 including Licking have returned to wet. seven counties reaffirmed prohibition through recent elections.

The Highland county infirmary reports 85 inmates in the year ending Sept 1 1911 51 men 34 women. Of 52 remaining inmates 47 are over 60 with 23 disabled by disease and 18 by old age. Total cost 7447.57 dollars with detailed expenses including wages groceries fuel clothing drugs and burial. The average annual cost per inmate is 135.42 dollars and about 1500 dollars was disbursed as outside relief.
