Courier to Feature Aerial Views of Clermont County Towns

The Courier plans a new weekly feature starting next week with aerial photos of Clermont County communities. Jim Moore coordinated with aviator crews and Jim Morner to photograph Felicity Bethel Williamsburg Batavia New Richmond Amelia Owensville Milford Loveland Goshen and Newtown. Morner will run his Batavia photo studio after buying Rum mell's studio.

Clermont County approves Adams grader purchase and bids for Galion unit

The Clermont County Commissioners approve buying an Adams grader from Rish Equipment Co for 8838.52 dollars and seek bids for a Galion Motor Grader to the highest bidder sealed by 10 am January 10. They extend real estate and public utility tax payment deadline to January 20 1947 to comply with state statute.

Land Bank Pays Dividend to 92,000 Members

The Federal Land Bank of Louisville has paid about 465000 in dividends to its stockholders, the 142 national farm loan associations across Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. This marks the bank’s fifth dividend since its 1917 charter, following a 1946 payout. President M. B. Kennedy Jr. says the 1947 dividend enables associations to issue checks to their 92,000 members, with annual meetings mostly from January 15 to April 15.

Kahle Opens New Dodge Plymouth Agency Near Batavia

Harry Kahle launches a Dodge and Plymouth agency in temporary quarters at the former Roller Rink on Route 222 near Batavia. He holds the Cler mont County franchise and recently sold Kahle Oil Company to Socony Vacuum. Since 1933 in Batavia he led business and civic efforts including founding the Batavia Rotary Club.

Fourth Legion District to Meet in Batavia January Thirty First

The Fourth District of the American Legion of Ohio will meet at the Batavia Armory at 8 p m January 31. State officers will attend. after an hour on the Ohio Legion program the session opens to member discussion. Youths injured in holiday crash claims one life

Clyde Coffee 20 of Willowville died in a Christmas Eve Route 4 head on crash near Newtown. Henry Lee Rucker 18 of Brookville injured along with Claude Coffee, Raymond Clipper and siblings Betty and Marie Clipper. Coffee died at Dr. Walter Mueller’s office. others treated at local clinics.

Pancher Plans New Furniture Store in Batavia

Cliff Pancher, owner of the Batavia Home Furnishings Co., has leased the Main Street storeroom once used by the Ration Control Board. In about two weeks he will open a furniture store featuring better grades of furniture and continue operating as a trade in store for buying and selling used merchandise.

Charter Night for Williamsburg Rotary Set for January 13

The Batavia club sponsors the Williamsburg Rotary Charter Night. The event on January 19 will host representatives from southern Ohio clubs with Harold Nichols inviting district clubs. District Governor Everson Carl from Columbus will preside, and a venison dinner will be served.

Terrace Park Country Club Destroyed by Fire

Fire wiped out Terrace Park Country Club in Clermont County on a Saturday, causing an estimated $30,000 loss. The blaze started on the roof and was spotted by Mrs. Betty Goodman, wife of the manager Vernon Goodman. Milford Terrace Park Madeira and Indian Hill fire crews fought the flames without enough water pressure, despite extending a line from the nearby Little Miami River. The former Woodward residence, bought in 1930 and remodeled with a summer swimming pool, was empty, though golfers on the scene assisted in removing equipment before fire crews arrived.

Fayetteville Veteran Bernard Carlier Killed in Accident

Bernard J. Carlier, commander of the Fayetteville American Legion Post, died after his car skid off a road near St. Martin Ohio and hit a tree. He served 36 months in the Army including the 82nd Airborne and earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Survived by his wife in Cincinnati and two brothers in Cincinnati and Fayetteville.

Clermont County Records Two Infantile Paralysis Cases in 1946

Infantile paralysis is unpredictable and local. In 1946 Clermont County reported two cases to the Health Department, both teen age boys in separate communities. The year 1945 had three cases including a fourteen month old child who recovered fully and a young woman with leg involvement. During 1940s a total of ten cases were reported with two deaths. The remainder showed varying recoveries and lingering deficits. Hospitalization and long term after care are essential and funded by March of Dimes contributions supporting all patients regardless of age race creed or color.

VA reports 3500 veterans awarded automobiles under a 30 million program. 2400 cars delivered nationwide in November. 48 in September first month.
