Big switchboard hoisted to second floor by phone company

In Batavia a large switchboard was hoisted through a ceiling opening to the new second floor in the Telephone Building on Sunday December 15. After hours of prep work operators connected calls while the board rose inch by inch and was finally moved into position in the new operating room.

Labor Saving Devices to Be Shown at Owensville Jan 27

A farm and home labor saving devices display will be held January 27, 1947, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Owensville School Auditorium. Sponsored by Clermont County Extension Service, the event features four truckloads of devices with D. P. Miller in charge. County residents with devices are urged to contact the County Agent’s Office to be shown in the display.

Fire protection plan proposed for Clermont farms

Farmers in Clermont County are urged to consult local fire chiefs or township trustees about a county-wide fire fighting system that could be funded with surplus government property at bargain prices. The plan aims to provide effective protection with compact equipment capable of pumping water from distant sources, with most fires thought to be extinguished with under 90 gallons. Special goat raising meeting set for Clermont County farmers

Clermont County farmers interested in goat raising are invited to a special meeting at 2 p.m. December 29 at Pageswa Legion Hall near Mt. Sterling. A. C. Blatter of the Oregon State Cooperative will discuss commercializing goat milk sales, brought by the Ohio Milk Goat Breeders Association. Funds continue to arrive by mail through January while the committee urges late contributions.
