Batavia Editor Dies In Auto Crash
Gerald Porter 42 editor of the Cincinnati Herald and Dayton Tribune died from crash injuries in Batavia after his Thunderbird left Rt. 32. Porter, survived by wife Marjorie Brower Porter and step son, Billy Spiller, had been returning from Cincinnati with pictures for a Mardi Gras feature. Funeral arrangements are tentative in Batavia.

Educator Found Guilty Of Assault At Halloween Dance
Goshen schools superintendent Robert Gower was found guilty of assault by a Common Pleas Court Jury. Judge John H. Houston said sentencing would occur later. Gower faced charges of assault and battery and torturing a child for allegedly shoving 15-year-old Larry Joe Marshall at a Goshen school Halloween dance on October 27.
