Deputy registrars for the 1941 automobile license plates were announced by Ohio Department of Highways head Dylon W. Wallace. Tags go on sale March 1, with display required by April 1 and no extension past that date. Governor Bricker, Director Souis, and Registrar Wallace selected the 41 registrars, including Amelia Nellie Mattox in Clermont County and others in Batavia, Felicity, Goshen, Loveland, Milford, New Richmond, Newtonsville, Owensville, and Williamsburg.

Mrs. Albert Christie fled with her two children from a kitchen fire at a farm home one mile east of Neville. The Neville Fire Department, led by Mayor Charles Glaser, battled flames. contents mainly the kitchen were destroyed and smoke and water damaged the rest. Christie estimated losses around 280 dollars, covered by documents.

Services for Oliver Smith 87 were conducted Wednesday at 2 p m at Breadwill Funeral Home Felicity with burial in Sewarne Cemetery. A Franklin township native, he farmed in the area for years and is survived by a nephew and several nieces including Mrs William Fee and Mrs Clarence McKinley of Felicity.
William Chambers of Moscow was robbed of $16 by Simon Shaver who visited Chambers farm to finalize a sale. Shaver drew a pistol after touring the barn and fled with the money. Deputies arrested Shaver seven days later in Cincinnati and brought him to Justice Street Court on grand jury charges with bond set at 2500 dollars.
Bethel resident Williams Pribbie, 76, a pioneer Bethel tracker, died at home Wednesday after a three year illness. Funeral services were held at Kennedy Funeral Home, Bethel, last Saturday. Burial followed in Bethel cemetery. Another Bethel resident, Mrs. Anna Swingle, died early morning at W A Taylor's home after long illness. Funeral services were held at Kennedy Funeral Home, Bethel, Saturday at 3 30 PM with interment in Bethel cemetery.
Milford Church of Christ members voted to buy a lot at Mill Garfield and Laurel Avenues in South Milford from Mrs J H Meyers. The parcel was part of a larger grounds with her house. Building is expected to start in spring once weather permits.
The Army offered reserve commissions today to doctors and ministers in Ohio Kentucky West Virginia and Indiana. At Fort Hayes Ohio Col R B Patterson announced authorization to commission physicians surgeons and chaplains. Milford’s top teams defeated the Batavia Bulldogs in a double header. The curtain raiser saw Milford break a 13 13 tie in the final minutes while Batavia missed a potential winner. Jimmy Skelton’s reserves have won 12 of 16 and return next year.

A National Defense meeting was held at the Bethel School last Monday evening. County Superintendent Frank Hoggatt said the event was well attended by school officials and prominent community members interested in national defense. More such meetings are expected across the county soon.
The Girl's Friendship Circle of Marathon held a schoolhouse meeting with Mrs. Sam Malady and Mrs. Kirskadden as hostesses.
