At the Batavia Armory last week Moscow teams defeated Batavia in two boys and girls games. The girls edged Batavia 15 to 12 while the Moscow boys won 27 to 19. The grades game ended Batavia 12 Moscow 6 with a large crowd enjoying the evenings of basketball.
William Wilson, former Bell Telephone Co. employee, died Sunday at his Batavia home after several months of illness. Survived by a widow and five daughters. He belonged to the 1.0. F. lodge and Junior Order. Funeral Tuesday from the home with burial in Batavia Union Cemetery.
The Frank W. Weever Post of the American Legion will hold the third annual Clermont county town teams tournament on March 7, 8 and 10 at the Batavia Armory. Prizes include gold and silver basketballs, a silver consolation trophy, and a consolation game basketball.

It highlights statewide conservation events, the Ohio State Library’s rural education aid, and Ohio high school vocational agriculture growth funded for farm boys.
Revival meetings progress well at the United Brethren Church with 12 decisions 6 additions and 1 reconsecration reported. Rev Sanford’s music attracts strong attendance nightly and the Methodist orchestra aids the program. Services run 7 30 p m each night except Saturday with a musical program to follow next Sunday at 2 p m inviting the public.
The new Maham Funeral Home in Williamsburg held a weekend opening attended by many. The two story brick building features a chapel with 150 upholstered chairs, a basement, elevator, display room for twelve caskets, and an ambulance garage under one roof. Owner J. Isaac Maham is a rising local undertaker assisted by Robert Tucker and successor to Daly & Maham.

At a Monday meeting Stroup moved Willis seconded to raise the superintendent and matron of the County Home salary to 1600 effective March 1 with Seyler not voting. The present salary is 1200. Willis and Seyler then moved to seek John Houser’s resignation as superintendent effective March 1 1980 Stroup not voting. Houser cites civil service protection. Several applicants are ready to file for the job.

County commissioners approved numerous payrolls and relief payments totaling dozens of individuals and firms. The board awarded a supplemental contract for extra stone work on No 61 Pond Run road and authorized maintenance funds and road inspections.
The Miami Grange holds its monthly meeting Saturday March 1 at the I O O F Hall Milford. The program features songs roll call a March event progress in National affairs talks on vegetable and flower gardens readings and short performances by Mrs Cramer Mrs Roudebush Mrs Alexander Geo Widmeyer and Julius Martin among others.
Clermont county posts plan a final clean up drive in early March as membership stands at 216 this year, down from 293 last year. Officials aim for 2650 members in 1930, with the state convention in Cincinnati drawing ex service men.
Mrs M Brayton Graff will broadcast the revived Poets Union from WLW Monday morning March 8 between 10 40 and 11 00. The group founded in Clermont county has revived after years of inactivity and draws growing statewide interest with many Clermont residents planning to listen.
The Brown county Republican Executive Committee adopted a resolution endorsing the Cooper administration and the records of Senator Roscoe McCulloch and Congressman Charles Kearns. John Hayden received endorsement for Senator from the Second Fourth district. Other endorsed officials include John T. Brown Clarence J. Brown H. Ross Ake and Gilbert Bettman.
