Miscellany of local quirks and beagle rescue tale
A New Orleans racing fan won $25 257 on a single ticket and a humorous note about Snuffy Smith. Clarence Bud Gross of SR 132 near Batavia rescued a beagle from an ice cake in East Fork River last Monday night. He and Geoffrey Richards, in a canoe, found the dog and took it to Batavia veterinarian Dr. David Fox. If no owner is found, Gross will keep the dog, calling it a nice dog. The piece also recalls historical twin-dates claims on Lincoln and Kennedy, and notes the appointment of Stanely Cann to the Clermont County commissioner executive committee of the Ohio County Commissioners association, replacing Arthur Blake.
