Fifty Years of Batavia M E Church Celebrated
The Batavia Methodist church marked its fiftieth anniversary last Sunday with 200 attendees. Rev A P Smith former pastor from Newtown delivered the sermon, choir and organist Miss Bess Walker performed, and Brice Hendrixson sang. Eli Speidel recounted the church history prepared by Miss Jennie Penn, as John Huntington led the afternoon session.

Former Batavian Teacher Dies in Denver
Mrs. Wm. B. Lloyd, formerly of Batavia and a public school teacher, died at her Denver home on February 18. She was a niece of Freda Kline and sister of Celia Lundregan of Glendale. Her husband, once a Bethel resident, was well known in Clermont county. Funeral held in Denver on February 21. She left many relatives and friends.

Sixty nine Clermont County Grangers traveled to Fairfield in Butler County last Saturday for a social session with the Butler County Pomona Grange. A specially laid table marked birthdays in the first quarter. After business, Clermont presented a Neighbors program by Mrs. Rogers. Mr. and Mrs. Rathfus were honored with a slumber chair for nine years as deputies, presented by Joe Fichter, State Grange Lecturer.

Surprise Cars Stolen At Batavia Armory Meet
Reports of school robberies in Bethel Amelia Felicity and Moscow plus a post office looting preceded two cars stolen Sunday night and a mysterious car fire Monday. Vehicles stolen include a 1932 black Chevrolet 4 door owned by Lester Wetts Bethel and a 1929 Chevrolet owned by Victor Wymer Williamsburg. Looted Loveland garage yielded radios electric sweepers batteries and tax stamps. Sheriff's deputies Tom Brooks and Frank Abbott lead the investigation with limited clues.
