Schools Fight Move to Eliminate Sales Tax in Ohio
W B Bliss of the Ohio Education Association warns that a constitutional amendment opposed by the Ohio Anti Sales Tax League would slice two thirds from the state public school fund and cut sales tax and cigarette tax revenues by millions. He notes local governments rely on sales taxes for over 25 million and schools could lose 32 million, threatening school terms to three to five months. The claim stresses the constitution should not be used to sweep away tax laws.
