The Clermont Courier announces a progress edition to be inserted in the Feb 28 issue. It will feature background on organizations, construction updates in the county, and histories of areas. Editors plan to use as many submissions as possible and publish more in later issues.
The Touch of Class Restaurant at West Clermont Career Center 4342 Glen Este Williamsville Road offers a Mardi Gras Buffet from 5 30 to 8 p m Thursday February 22. Operated by Vocational Students Restaurant Management Program, menu includes Creole Arcadian dishes shrimp creole top round beef vegetables salads and dessert. Reservations call 752 8520 ext 241 before Thursday.
Ford Motor Co plans to hire locally amid incentives, with county offices already staffing and construction crews active. Officials, including Robert Waters, face parking shortages and zoning delays for three temporary trailers at East Gate Mall site. Plans call for 25 to 30 workers, with state police and sheriff personnel to assist.
Fran Schwiermann reports increased Norfolk Western Railway traffic near Milford and Perintown tied to Ford Motor Co transmission plant work. Six daily trains pass through Clermont County with two westbound, two eastbound, and one turnaround delivering gravel to Ford and Eastgate Mall sites.
Clermont County officials learned from Ohio Dept. of Transportation figures that no state funds will be provided to install signals at six county road railroad crossings. Each crossing would cost 30 000 to 50 000 dollars, with ODOT rating crossings by risk factors. O Bannonville Road led the list with 1.30 while others ranged from 0.24 to 1.10. Officials had sought funding from Loveland based on the risk assessment.
Clermont County Commissioners schedule hearings for a 0.5 cent sales tax, March 15 at 7 p.m. at Goshen High School and March 22 at 7 p.m. at Glen Este High School. The tax could raise about $1.2 million annually for capital improvements including jail upgrades, courthouse work, and the Medical-Social Services Complex near the county hospital.
