Milacron seeks tax abatement district in Williamsburg Township

O Bannon sewer project ready to go for bids

Construction of the 16.4 million O Bannon Creek Sewer Project is prepared to begin after settlements end two lawsuits. Bids will be advertised 30 days before opening per EPA rules. The county will receive a 10 million federal grant to serve Goshen Township and eastern Miami Township. A settlement resolves suits by four mobile home parks over the need and assessments. Clermont County Airport expansion funding will follow FAA approval.

Williamsburg considers earnings tax to cover village funds

The Williamsburg Village Council discussed a potential one percent earnings tax due to depleted village coffers. With money tight, officials warned of layoffs in the street department by February 28 and the risk of losing street maintenance, sewer clearing, and snow removal. The council approved Phillip Williams as a full-time police patrolman starting March 1 to replace Larry Farmer, who resigned. Solicitor Bas tin noted Edmiston Hardware’s pending sale at the mayor's office.
