The area received 2.87 inches of rain between Wednesday and Sunday while March arrived with strong winds rain and sleet. The Ohio River was forecast to crest at 55 feet on Thursday morning March 1.

Historical Society of Batavia schedules its 1979 season with Maude Horn organizing agendas. March 9 features Dr. William Norris of Clermont College as guest speaker at 8 p.m. An 7:30 p.m. board meeting precedes the gathering at the CG&E Building. Also listed are Clough Pike church singing March 3 and other community fundraisers in Clermont County.
County personal income data show Clermont at 5338 in 1976 ranking 61st of 88 Ohio counties while Hamilton is 7149, Cuyahoga 7749, Clinton 3263 in 1977. The ten year growth adds 3821 dollars or 117.1 percent, with 11 counties growing less.
Cincinnati Milacron requests a 117 acre tax abatement area between SR 32 and Half Acre Road for potential job and plant expansion. County leaders delay action pending a new policy from the Tax Abatement Policy Board and see Milacron’s plans as part of a broader reinvestment area.
Construction of the 16.4 million O Bannon Creek Sewer Project is prepared to begin after settlements end two lawsuits. Bids will be advertised 30 days before opening per EPA rules. The county will receive a 10 million federal grant to serve Goshen Township and eastern Miami Township. A settlement resolves suits by four mobile home parks over the need and assessments. Clermont County Airport expansion funding will follow FAA approval.
The Williamsburg Village Council discussed a potential one percent earnings tax due to depleted village coffers. With money tight, officials warned of layoffs in the street department by February 28 and the risk of losing street maintenance, sewer clearing, and snow removal. The council approved Phillip Williams as a full-time police patrolman starting March 1 to replace Larry Farmer, who resigned. Solicitor Bas tin noted Edmiston Hardware’s pending sale at the mayor's office.
