Suit filed against township officials over landfill dispute

Burg landfill operators sue township trustees and ICARE for hindering normal business until the hearing. Operators were unavailable for comment. ICARE spokeswoman Mrs Hancock said she had not received the lawsuit copy. She stated, I don’t have it yet, but I know we’re being sued for a million dollars. The landfill dispute stems from citizen protests over accepting potentially harmful materials.

County Revenue Sharing Funds Slashed Again This Year

By Fran Schwiermann a public hearing set for February 16 at 11 a.m. in Batavia details continuing cuts to revenue sharing funds down to 416 000 for fiscal 1979 from 494 988 the past two years totaling 113 988. Proposed budget lists allocations to Agriculture Extension Senior Services Recreation Soil and Water Conservation Clermont Association for the Physically Handicapped Mental Health Clermont Fair Board and other programs totaling 381 356.

County salted roads cost as high as four hundred thousand

County officials note salt and maintenance costs for 400 miles of roads run high. Carter cites about 300 000 so far this season for ice and snow, with total potential costs reaching 350 000 to 400 000. The county uses 13 trucks across 13 salting territories and last year hired outside contractors.
