Accident involving Mt. Carmel teacher near Glen Este

Miss Helen Ruh, Mt. Carmel schoolteacher, was badly bruised when her car skidded on a slick road near Chas McGurra's garage and left the road into a ditch. The incident follows two years of similar accidents at the spot, and state road crews have been alerted to address the danger.

Jackson township school tax meetings announced

Attention voters and taxpayers are informed of three meetings in Jackson two school district to discuss school tax problems. The gatherings will be at Greenberry on Feb 20 Marathon on Feb 21 and Monterey on Feb 22. Each resident is urged to attend due to the vital nature of the issue.

Bullskin Bridge Contract Awarded for New Concrete Span

The State Highway Department awarded a contract to Goodwin & Smith of Mt. Vernon for $39,418.18 to build a three arch concrete Bullskin Creek span on Route 62. Work will start immediately and the bridge runs .859 miles.

Attempt Reported Incident Involving Local Man

Jack Johnson aged 50 of Taylor Pike Wayne township is jailed in Batavia on a charge of attempted assault on his daughter in law Mrs Ralph High two weeks married. Bound over to the grand jury in 1000 dollars by Squire Whitenack Edenton Sheriff Auxier and Deputy Brooks made the arrest.

Burns Out Contract as Fire Destroys Clermont County Officer Home

Probation officer Homer Johnson of Clermont County Welfare Board lost his eight room home and part of its contents to a Monday morning fire at nine. The blaze started in the rear of the house and the cause is unknown. Insurance partly covers the loss. Neighbors aided the response. Williamsburg's new concrete bridge project noted.

Bid opens for new Wilsinsburg concrete bridge

John Hill of Trenton reports bids opened at the State Highway office in Columbus for a new concrete bridge at Wilsinsburg replacing the 1864 covered span. The bid totals 67000 including temporary bridge and approaches at Gay street foot between L W White and the late T G Foster residence. Temporary timber is at Batavia from the Batavia project. Construction will be led by contractor Arthur W Meiniken with C W A help. work to start at once.

The Republicans of Clermont county plan a gathering at Milford Masonic hall on Thursday evening February 28. Reservations for supper are 50 cents with Mack Agin handling them. Tus Karger of Cincinnati will speak and George Bundy will provide humor and music as preparations aim for a large crowd. Be there Republicans.

Clermont County Young Republicans Plan April Anniversary Dinner

Members of the Clermont County Young Republican Club Executive Committee met in Batavia to draft plans for the club’s second anniversary on April 16. A dinner dance and brief business meeting with officer elections are planned with possible venues Amelia Bethel or Batavia. They dined earlier at Kramer’s Bakery.

Taxes Due in Clermont County for Personal Assessments

Personal taxes collection began last Friday in Clermont. All stock and bond holders, businesses, and owners of livestock, machinery, and farm products must file with the county auditor by March 15 and pay at least half the tax. Assessors in township offices will prepare lists. Productive investments taxed at 6 percent yield this year, unproductive investments at 2 mills.

Corn Hog Sign Up Details for Local Farmers

The corn hog program remains locally led by county and community committees and the county production control association under E. B. Baugh. Sign-up closes March 1. Community elections will be held Feb 26 Goshen Wayne, Feb 27 Owensville, Feb 28 Felicity, and March 1 Batavia signers. Each signer has one vote. A state board of review will audit contracts and check applications.

Caldwell Re-named Clermont County Cooperative Assn

The Clermont County Cooperative Association held its annual meeting at U B Church Batavia. Robert R. Caldwell Owensville was re elected president with Walter Cowdrey Williamsburg and E C Saxton Goshen re appointed as vice president and secretary. Directors elected for one, two, and three year terms included Thos Hill Belfast J F Rob inson Locust Corner Guy Jones Moscow Clifford Whittemeyer Newtown Earl Groppenbacher Bethel Walter Cowdrey Williamsburg E L Carter Milford Robert Caldwell Owensville and E C Saxton Goshen. Ray Stoddard Olive Branch was reappointed treasurer and manager. The association began April 1 1984 with 350 members and now serves Clermont and parts of neighboring counties. The first Coca Cola Championship draws put Clermont county at a setback with Batavia Merchants drawing Glencoe Kentucky in the opener March 8 at 8 30 p m. 38th Anniversary of Parents-Teachers Associations

The 38th anniversary was celebrated nationwide on February 17 per Ms. Ethel P. Simon extension secretary for the Ohio Congress State department of education.
