Modest looking man commits forgery at two banks
A middle aged stranger attempted to cash a $238 check at Batavia’s Milford National Bank using John Rapp as ID while claiming to be John B Rapp. He blamed an elderly coal yard worker and fled after being questioned. Later he tried another Milford check at Owensville’s Merchants & Farmers Bank with J L Favrer’s endorsement. he remains at large.

A Neville community meeting Friday night February 6th drew the largest attendance yet for such a gathering. About 98 percent of local farmers signed a petition urging the former Directors to draft a pooling contract for the 1931 crop. N. W. Bacon chaired, with a letter from Wm. Collins of the Federal Farm Board promising support. The gathering urged reorganization efforts and pooling principles to aid farmers beyond profit.

Awakening Revival Meetings Close With Large Crowds
Revival meetings in progress for three weeks attracted large crowds with 217 in Sunday School and 225 in Morning Worship. Eight new members joined in the morning and three conversions occurred in the evening. Gifts were given to the oldest and youngest attendees, and several townspeople attended the closing service. Bethel Man Passes After Gunshot Wound
Davis of Bethel, 66, died from a gunshot wound after seven hours in pain. He was long active in the meat trade and known locally. His sister found him fatally wounded in the garage upon returning from a peddling trip. Burial is set for Monday afternoon.

Joseph Koelble of Georgetown died at the family home on North Main Street at 4 30 Tuesday morning after a long decline. He had a frail constitution and suffered adhesions after an operation. Services were held at St Marys Church on Monday with Rev Ren officiating.
