Notable Felicity residents suffer misfortunes last week

Two prominent Felicity figures encountered accidents and illness. Bruce Daughters, Republican Central Committee member and Clermont County Board of Elections official, was hospitalized at Christ Hospital after a long illness. L. M. Broadwell, 80, a retired mortician, was struck by a hit and run driver while crossing near his home and received treatment for shock and minor injuries.

Enumerators Wanted for Seventeenth Census in Clermont County

A Clermont County census job notice invites applicants to the court house conference room on Friday February 17 for enumerator exams. J W Martin leads the session. 44 positions in the county, about 250 district wide, pay $8 or $9 per good day, and require high school education or equivalent.

Milford School District Plans Bond Election for Addition

Milford Exempted Village Board of Education sets March 28 for a special election on a $160000 bond issue to fund a school building addition and remodeling. Bids exceeded available funds, and costs may top $300000. approval would enable work this summer adding nine classrooms and a larger gym. Tax rate would rise about 2.3 mills under the new debt limit law.

Representative To Speak At Institute Event

The Newtonsville Community Institute will be held Friday February 17 with A. E. Osbrothoff of the FBI and a Ohio Department of Natural Resources representative as speakers. They will discuss Stonelick Lake and lunch will be served by the local PTA.

Milford Council Licenses Cabs In Village Regulation

Milford votes to license taxis with mayor issuing licenses at 50 dollars yearly per cab. Cabs must pass mechanical fitness tests and carry large insurance. Drivers must be 21 plus with chauffeur licenses. Current operators total two companies running three cabs each.

Batavia Lumber Company is named distributor for Kasco Feeds in Hamilton County tri counties. Howard King, president, announces the move as Kasco’s feed line expands nationwide. Zoller interest sold to King who also serves as secretary treasurer.

War crimes film planned by Batavia Legion club sparks arrests

Under the Frank W. Weaver Post banner the American Legion in Batavia schedules a two night showing of war crimes at Town Halls Theatre February 20 and 21 with a Clermont County Legion meeting beforehand. Three arrests follow a dispute over a 16 year old Kentucky girl leading to charges involving James Hall and his father in law Frank Pageman. The trio remains in Clermont County for Juvenile Court hearings. Hall is wanted in Kentucky on a breaking and entering charge and to be returned there.

Shipments Of Corn To Europe Scheduled From Clermont Area

J A Nordman of the Clermont County Farm Bureau Co op announces more corn shipments to Europe. Twenty thousand bushels will be sent next week from both Clermont and Brown counties, added to 30,000 bushels already shipped this month to Tidewater Shipping Company in Baltimore. The improved Williams burg mill loading allows a 1 700 bushel freight car to be loaded in about two and a half hours, aiding future wheat purchases for farmers.

Amelia Man Held In Jail At Batavia

Robert L. DeFeet 25 of Concord Road Amelia is jailed in Clermont County Batavia on charges of defacing a license plate and indecent exposure. He allegedly harassed a woman in the Amelia area and forced a car to the roadside before bystanders restrained him. Sheriff Clyde Dericks reported the incident.

Chandler's Plumb To Play Benefit Game At Amelia

Floyd Rath sponsor of Distributing Company team announced Chandler's Plumb will play an all star benefit game at Amelia on February 21. Proceeds aid Robert Barnes who suffered a severe injury a few weeks ago and Plumbers from other teams will participate.
