Schoolmasters Meet in Williamsburg Auditorium

The February meeting of Clermont County Schoolmasters' Club was held February 8 at Williamsburg public school. Host J W Prewitt introduced Dorothy Mayham and Master Nickie White who entertained with dancing and music. Stephen Alke, painter and arts student, gave a talk and displayed landscapes, with wife Mrs Alke, a National Academy member.

California Man Sentenced to 200 Days for DWI

Clarence Robbins of California was convicted on a second offense for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Judge White sentenced him to 200 days in jail with no fine and allowed home leave to attend to business. He was away on Tuesday, with the sentence effective from Saturday.

Assaulted-Robbed Victim, Clarence Huff Bound Over

Clarence Huff, 25, of near Loveland, assaulted Arthur Albert, 60, beating him with a club and demanding money. Huff was arrested by Marshal John Parker and bound over to the grand jury in 5000 dollars. He remains jailed awaiting the grand jury.

News Democrat Wins Three Prizes at State Show

The News Democrat of Georgetown earned two firsts and one third prize at Ohio State University in the statewide weekly newspaper contest. Fayetteville Gets Federal OK for Sewer Water Plant

The Works Progress Administration informed Mayor L. A. Becker and Representative James G. Polk that federal approval is given to Fayetteville Brown County for a new sewer system disposal plant and water system. The projects total 55,872 dollars in federal funding and were designated eligible by President Roosevelt this week, assigned to the state WPA for action.

Kroger Store to Open Soon in Batavia

The Batavia Kroger store will open Thursday at Main and Market with rapid progress over the past week. Batavia Teams Win Three Games

Batavia High School basketball swept three games with Georgetown and Bethel, both boys and girls teams winning. Batavia girls beat Georgetown 20 to 10 led by Lucy Keen with 10 points as Audrey Krekeler and teammates stifled Georgetown. Boys edged by Georgetown 38 to 35 in a tight clash with Justin Townsley scoring 11 for Batavia. Bethel girls fell 37 to 15 while Bethel boys lost 44 to 30. Captain Tommy Colburn, William Singleton with 15 and Lowell Rust with 11 lead Batavia. Referee “Tippy” Dye received praise for offciating.
