Sheriff Auxier Injured in Wreck Near Glen Este

Sheriff Auxier was in a Sunday 4 a m collision near Glen Este when he dozed and his car left the road into a culvert. Help arrived and he was released. Deputy Brooks ferried him home while Charles McGuire towed the wreck to his garage for repairs.

Deter Named Regional Associate for Ohio State Fund

Francis Deter principal of Batavia High School is named a Regional Associate of the Ohio State University Development Fund in Clermont County. Harry R. Drackett announces the first annual campaign to finance university refinements and unmet needs. Regional Associates will act as ambassadors and help organize alumni groups for the drive. Governor Bricker and other leaders plan a national committee meeting on February 17 and 18 at the Ohio State campus.

Bethel Grange presented a traveling jar of seeds to Miami Grange on Tuesday night February 7 and Miami Grange responded with a fine program. Visitors from other Granges attended. A party is set for Thursday night February 16. The Worthy Lecturer announced a moving picture show after the February 21 meeting with Loyd Harlow of Bethel presenting and an educational feature on the Ford V-8.

Fire Destroys Two Felicity Business Rooms Saturday

Two one story frame buildings on Market Street in Felicity owned by Bruce Daughters and Albert Watson were burned out early Saturday. Daughters says his building housing a cream station was unused for a week and suffered about 800 dollars in losses. Watson’s building, also a cream station, was saved in part by prompt action and contained losses not yet estimated. Bethel Fire Department under Chief Sam Leonard assisted local crews to prevent spread to nearby businesses.

Real estate swindler arrested after yearlong hunt

M S Eubanks 66 was arrested at his Shawnee Run and Camargo residence after officers watched the home for hours. He faced two warrants for December 3 1937 check with insufficient funds and August 4 1937 embezzlement of 150 dollars. Arraigned and held on bond as officials link him to further manipulations in Versailles Franklin Tad and Adams counties. Sheriff Auxier two Indian Hill Rangers and Lt Ralph Anderson made the arrest.

Clermont County Christian Youth Council Formed

The Clermont County Council of Religious Education starts the county youth council to unify and aid youth groups across 41 denominations. Members chosen by each church meet quarterly with an 80 year age cap for officers. A drama festival at Cranston Memorial Church on February 15 promotes drama in worship.
