County Commissioners Proceedings and Obituary Notice

Death of George K Myrick Leaves Family and Community

George K Myrick born February 22 1855 near Mt Holly lived his life in the same community. He died February 28 1922 at age 67 after illness and is survived by wife Caroline Seigel six children three granddaughters one brother and many friends. He joined the Mt Holly Christian church in 1900 and funeral services were held Monday at 2 pm at Mt Holly church with burial in Amelia Ohio.

Grand Jury Returns Four True Bills in Batavia Session

The grand jury in Batavia was summoned to hear cases slated for disposal. In one day it examined 15 witnesses and returned four true bills against Ben Wilson for automobile theft and grand larceny, and against Ralph Jones on three charges including carrying concealed weapons.

The Batavia tobacco market listing shows Wednesday February 8 results with no rejections and a floor of good tobacco, listing prices across grades such as nonscrips 3.7 to 7.5 cents and bright leaf up to 60 cents. Geo Geesner of Batavia posted a 4025 pound average of 38.51 dollars, Cahall & Glaze of Georgetown averaged 34.55 on 3610 pounds. total offerings 42 635 and average 31.03. Friday's sale featured strong bidding and an active market with prices from 2 to 4.4 cents for nonstrips and lugs up to 35 cents, topped by Fiester & Hodges of Georgetown on a crop of 11 340 averaging 40.80. total offerings 70 985, average 28.13. Monday February 18 sale showed strength with prices ranging from 3.2 to 8.6 cents for nonscrips and bright leaf up to 68 cents, total offerings 62 710 and average 27.18.

Amelia Athletic Club Plans South Side Base Ball Park

The Amelia Athletic Club staged a successful vaudeville show at Amelia Town Hall and announced plans to build a 800-seat grand stand at a new 4-acre South Side Base Ball Park near Cline avenue and the Cincinnati Georgetown Portsmouth Railroads. They intend to enter AA class in Spinney League in 1922 and are arranging for an additional battery.

Dairy Feeding School planned in Clermont County farming event

Clermont County farmers plan a Dairy Feeding School on Monday February 20 at 10 30 am in Batavia. Instructor will be Ivan McKellip state university dairy extension specialist from Columbus. Demonstration flocks across nine farms show egg yields and breed performance from Barred Rocks to White Leghorns with monthly reports and a poultry flock numbering system. The Bethel Warehouse Company reports steady tobacco receipts for the Burley Tobacco Growers Cooperative Association, with members satisfied by handling and prices.
