McGehean Murder Trial Set After Accidental Shooting Claim

The first degree murder case against John McGehean for Eddie Gansman’s death at Marathon on November 27 is scheduled for March 18 in Clermont County. A 75 name venire has been drawn, McGehean ruled sane after hospital time, and he awaits trial in Batavia jail with widow Eddie Gansman as prosecuting witness.

Summerside Parsonage Burns In Fire Loss

A fire destroyed the M. B. parsonage in Summerside on Monday afternoon. Batavia Fire Department arrived too late. total loss, contents saved, and the building was not insured for the full value. The Rev and Mrs Robbins were away at the time. A court appearance is scheduled for March 18, 1988.

Milk Producers of Ohio Indiana and Kentucky form union

A 200 strong group of milk producers from Southern Ohio gathered at Grant Memorial Building Bethel last Saturday night and voted unanimously to form a union to protect the sale of milk. Goshen, R. B. Day presided and a by laws committee was appointed to draft a constitution for adoption on February 7 in Goshen. The meeting stressed relief through organized action.

Burglars Hit Williamsburg Drug Store and Garage

Burglars entered Elrod Drug Store and W K Whites Garage at Williamsburg last Wednesday night. Entry to the drug store was through the back door with a pinch bar aiding entry. A small amount was stolen from the telephone money box before the thieves fled. Sheriff Auxier was summoned but no clues have been found.

Groves Will Case Faces Potential New Trial

In Clermont County Common Pleas Court last week a 12 juror panel and Judge White heard the Geo. Groves will dispute. The verdict held the will broken after contest by son Harry Groves who was omitted, claimed prior settlement by the father. Attorneys argued for a new trial Saturday, and Judge White took the matter under advisement with a decision expected later in the week. Public interest surrounded the probate dispute.

Mulberry men arrested for tobacco thefts linked to covington sale

Sheriff Auxier arrested Roy Eider and Everett Cromer of Mulberry for stealing 36500 pounds of tobacco from Tom Hathman last Wednesday at Joe Cobb's farm. Bank robber identified by Owensville couple in Ohio case

Howard Wells, 23, a Warren County farmer, was identified by W. J. Snider and his wife of Owensville as one of two gunmen in the Owensville bank robbery. Mrs. Snider positively identified Wells, whose companion matched the other bandit’s description. Wells and two accomplices are in the penitentiary.
