Stars at the Masonic hall last Friday night featured farm products, side shows, a fortune teller, needlework, poultry, a snake charmer, a Wild Man of Borneo, and midgets. Two-act drama, supper, and five-cent admission accompanied a profitable evening with about $72 raised for the group.

Roy Zollars and Grace Bee of Bethel wed January 28 1914 at M B parsonage Batavia with Rev B Burdsall officiating. They plan a short wedding trip before settling in Bethel. Later same day Edgar Emmons and Nellie McKee of Felicity married at the same venue witnessed by their mothers. The Emmonses departed for Felicity aboard the 2 06 car.
Born June 20 1829 on a Butler County Ohio farm Dolby moved with family to Indiana, preached from eighteen, pastored seven Clermont churches, taught, served in Missouri, then Nicholsville Ohio. A temperance advocate and Odd Fellow, he was known for kindness and faith, dying January 9 1914.
An eight day Batavia chautauqua is assured with contract signed. A strong talent list is secured and the event will be held under a tent in either the school park or town hall park. The Business Men's Club backs the affair and a grantee company is secured with arrangements perfected.

Bethel will soon host a new furniture room opened by E A Day in the former Harry Hutson building. The business aims to be up to date and serve a city of about 10 000. Day is a hustler likely to run the shop locally. Also noted is the death of Mrs Ollie Pease Smith in Savannah on January 2 from blood poisoning. She leaves four sons aged 18 and an infant daughter.
The Columbus Court of Appeals declares unconstitutional the recent State sale by weight law, upholding a common pleas court ruling. Judge Ferneding of Dayton cites US and state constitutions, finding the law overly restrains contracting powers. Merchants may resume selling by weight and buying in bulk, with eggs highlighted as a weight-based example.
The will of E C Patchell orders payment of debts and outlines substantial bequests to wife Belle S Patchell including household goods hay grain and 1000 cash from asset sales. It provides for James M Patchell until age 25 and names heirs with adjusted shares and liens. Belle Edward W and Albert J Patchell named executors without bond. church gift of 500 to Stonelick Valley Baptist Church and other provisions noted.
