Auditor Arnold Stumpf reports the sale of 350 kennel licenses and 7950 dog licenses through Jan 20, with penalties risked for unlicensed dogs. Felicity residents recount a violent night when an intruder shot a partner, prompting Mr. Rash to shoot and kill the intruder after greeting a knock for directions to the Jennings home. The incident occurred on Richey Road as the couple awoke to an unknown visitor seeking neighbors.

Bids for the new school for the retarded came in at 1.8 million, below the 2.1 million estimate. Funds include a 1,025,000 bond approved in 1968 with state aid covering the rest for a two acre Benton Road site donated for the project. Construction could start within 45 days as bids were lowered on both general and specific contracts.
Mr and Mrs Rash were attacked by two men at their Cincinnati area home. One intruder opened fire on the other after a dispute over tying up the couple. The wounded man Jimmy Thompson, 29, was found at a tavern and transported to multiple hospitals. Rash was treated and released. Mrs Rash remained under observation.
State Superintendent Martin W. Essex announced final Title II allocations totaling 4,050,248 for 624 districts. Clermont County schools received 48,120 for Batavia Bethel Tate Clermont Northeastern Felicity Franklin Goshen Milford New Richmond West Clermont Williamsburg to fund expanded library services and instructional materials.
State Representative William Mussey said he works with 23 Republicans on about 15 bills to fix errors in the new state income tax. Three proposals would extend homestead relief to all seniors, boost real estate tax relief as income grows, and allow separate state returns for married couples. The plan ties future relief to a fixed share of income tax receipts, beginning with 34.55 percent for fiscal year 1973.
Berry Pharmacy owner Robert Berry resumes prescription service at 138 Front St after a January 18 fire that destroyed the shop and nearby William Ross Laundromat. The blaze, alleged to be set by 18 year old John Blair, led to the death of 90 year old Mrs. Josephine Schutte who lived above the store. A coroner’s report awaited.
Midwest Land Development Co partners with Goshen Township on a sewer plant for Oak Knoll Estate II. The county will take control upon completion and tap charges will apply until county facilities are ready. The firm agrees to operate the plant for one year, at a cap of five percent of plant cost.
