Scout Financial Drive Opens February 14 in Clermont County

Independent Cage Tourney Opens Sunday
The Clermont County Independent Basketball Tournament opens Sunday Feb 6 at Amelia High School gym with four games. It is a double elimination. Illness Fatal to Wartime Milford Mayor
Milford’s wartime mayor Joseph M Barrere died last Friday at Clark’s Convalescent Home in Cincinnati after a long illness. He was 80 and had been ill since 1946 following a stroke. He served four terms as mayor ending in 1946. Funeral services were held at Craver Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon with Rev. E. Biffle officiating and burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Harness racing returns to Clermont County Fair program
At a Fair Board meeting last Wednesday the decision to drop harness racing was rescinded due to financial issues. The 100th Clermont County fair runs August 17 to 20 with Ward Beam's Daredevils and motorcycle racing on the track. A. E. Stevens of the Southwestern Ohio Jersey Breeder's Association will organize exhibits this year.

Summerside Church Sets Special Services Weekend

Home Partly Saved From Midnight Blaze
Two residents were injured in a crash on U S 52 near Ten Mile Road last Thursday. The Snider home on State Route 131 near Milford caught fire early Sunday. neighbors and the Milford Fire Department saved the lower half of the house but the roof and second floor were destroyed. Damage to the home of Dr. W D Saunders was about $3000.

Charles Schneider, formerly with the Batavia City Loan office, becomes manager of the newly enlarged loan department at First National Bank of Batavia. Robert L. Crowe moves from Hamilton to manage the local City Loan office, with prior experience as assistant manager. Homer Mosbacker, Batavia, remains assistant manager. Schneider, who arrived in Batavia in 1946 after previous work in Norwood, served in the U S Army Signal Corps during World War II and was discharged in 1944. He lives on Sixth Street with his wife and two children.

Milford Landmark Sold for Remodel in Milford
