The Owensville Farmers Institute drew over 800 per session despite bad weather. State speakers E A Flemming and Mrs. Thos Pierce presented practical talks. School bands and home economics classes earned praise while exhibits drew strong interest with 14 tobacco shows and 7 culinary displays. Winners included Mrs. Frank Marsh and F M Massey in culinary and tobacco respectively. The M E church women plan a Friday meeting at 2 30 pm with program on missions and foreign society leadership.

Coasting Accident Closes Batavia Main Street Run
Friday night on Batavia Main street Hill a collision between Bobby Mitchell and a parked Floyd Pierce car left Mitchell with a leg wound needing ten stitches. The Combs boy was knocked senseless but soon recovered. Dr VanHorn treated the injuries and the mayor ordered coasting halted.

The Stonelick township fox roundup last Saturday drew a large crowd at Galley Hill as four foxes were pursued and briefly contained before escaping through a weak line. Participants were well paid for their trouble despite the animals breaking free. Watch for the date of the next drive.

Death of Homer Blythe Glancy in Batavia
Homer Blythe Glancy died at his Batavia home on January 27 at age 58. He lived in Batavia most of his life, worked in grocery and dry goods after schooling and a law study. He led the National Guard at one time and was a Mason and Eastern Star member. Funeral was held from the home Saturday afternoon with Masons in charge. burial in Union Cemetery.

Burley Tobacco Sale Ties Lorillard To 5 Million Pound Purchase
The Burley Tobacco Growers Cooperative Association reports a 5,000,000 pound sale of association tobacco to P. Lorillard Tobacco Company. This marks the third weekly purchase by Lorillard, with previous buys totaling 2,000,000 and 700,000 pounds. The deals cover 1923 1924 redried crops and the 1925 crop, and will leave about 60,000,000 pounds of 1923 and 35,000,000 pounds of 1924 on hand. Delivery continues at receiver capacities, with the 1925 crop absorbed rapidly.
