Dr. Allen B. Rapp announces resignation after 36 years with the Clermont County Board of Health. A University of Cincinnati Medical College graduate, he plans to return to Owensville for private practice after a winter Florida vacation. The article notes a staffing re hire for the coming year and his long service.
Local merchants and the Clermont Courier sponsor the eighth annual first baby contest open to babies born to Clermont County residents. Prizes include a 23 piece knit layette, silverware, baby gear, diapers, milk, photos, prize drawings and more. Deadline for entry is January 4 1965 and details must be reported to the Clermont Courier.
Clermont County Engineer Carl Rush announced that all bids opened Tuesday for the Union Pierce Batavia township public water system were below engineer estimates. Bids were reviewed in Judge Harry Britton's courtroom with county officials and consulting engineers present. The bids will be tabulated and rechecked before awards. Northwest Mutual Insurance Company to finance the bonds has agreed to purchase the issue with a deadline of February 1, 1955. Bids came from twenty seven firms across Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Pennsylvania.
The Annual Conservative Baptist Conference convenes in Clermont County from January 2 to January 9 with sessions at First Baptist Glen Este Lindale Baptist Lindale and First Baptist New Richmond. Floyd Arnold David Dean Charles Harrison lead pastors. Missionaries from Japan India French West Africa Honduras Central America Brazil and Belgian Congo attend.
W Alfred White of Pierce township was re elected president of the Clermont County Trustees and Clerks Association at the annual meeting. George McGee Union vice president Clark Monroe secretary pro tem and C L Bredwell executive director also were re elected. State President Strawser spoke on local government and a statewide plan to educate residents. A new book on local government by Guita and Baker was introduced with over 150 copies sold.
Morris Selton of the State Farm Bureau Federation will speak at a Clermont County Farm Bureau meeting. Four farmers from each township will join a dinner at the UB Church Batavia at 7 30 pm on Tuesday January 4. A second meeting January 20 at Batavia High School will discuss county wide zoning and an extensive youth program for 1955 with a Zoning Commission on hand to answer questions.
